German music channel Deluxe Music has secured its DTH satellite distribution in standard (SD) and high definition (HD) on Astra (19.2° East) until 2021.
Parent company High View extended the corresponding contract with MX1 and Astra for the uplink and transponder capacity.
“Satellite television is the TV infrastructure with the highest reach in Germany and Austria. For the distribution of our content, whether it’s in the documentary space with Planet or for our music channels such as Deluxe Music, the satellite therefore plays an important sole,” said High View managing director Alexander Trauttmansdorff.
Christoph Mühleib, managing director of Astra Deutschland, added: “TV in SD standard will remain a necessary offer if you look at the actual reception situation in German households. The continued distribution of Deluxe Music in HD and SD is therefore good news for all music lovers.”
Deluxe Music is available unencrypted on Astra in SD resolution while the HD version forms part of subscription package HD+. Selected programmes are transmitted in Ultra HD on showcase channel UHD1 by Astra/HD+.
