10% of the customers of German cable operator Unitymedia have opted for multimedia platform Horizon.
In Q1 2017, the number of Horizon customers rose by 29,000 to 617,000, according to the Liberty Global subsidiary. In total, Unitymedia won 52,000 new customers in the first three months of the new year – twice as many as in Q1 2016.
The 7.2 million Unitymedia customers subscribed to 12.9 million TV, internet and telephony services on March 31, 2017. The strongest demand was for telephony and internet bundles.
85% of new broadband customers signed up for internet subscriptions offering at least 120Mbps in Q1 2017. In the same period last year, the figure amounted to just 50%.
The average speed of the broadband tariffs of Unitymdia’s customers was 83Mbps in Q1 2017, around 28% more than in the same period last year. With the speed, the data volume increased: In Q1 2017, Unitymedia’s customers used around 113GB per month on average – 36% more than one year ago.
In total, Unitymedia won 32,000 new internet subscribers and 29,000 new telephony subscribers in Q1, 2017. The company had 3.4 million broadband and 3.1 million telephony customers on March 31, 2017.
The number of customers using the new cable router Connect Box rose by 175,000 to 675,000 in Q1, 2017.
