The number of cable broadband connections in Hungary could reach almost 1.2 million by the end of this year.
Data produced by the regulator NMHH shows that the figure stood at 1.157 million as of the end of March, based on information obtained from leading providers.
At the same time, the number of FTTx subscriptions was at 543,000 and the xDSL total 763,000.
Cable and FTTx take-up is growing by single figure thousands each month, while xDSL is falling by similar amounts.
Meanwhile, as of the end of March, 63.6% of fixed broadband connections in Hungary were in excess of 30Mbps.
Telekom was the leading provider of fixed broadband, with a market share of 35.2%.
It was followed by UPC (22.1%) and Digi (16%), with fourth placed Invitel group claiming 9.2%.
