Netflix has a content licensing deal with the leading Chinese online video platform, iQIYI.
It’s the first agreement reached by the streaming service with an operator in the People’s Republic. The output deal covers a subset of Netflix original series including Stranger Things and Black Mirror.
In a statement, Netflix said its ambitions from the deal were modest: “Our cooperation will be subject to the relevant regulations on online streaming of imported drama and film content in China”.
Founded in Beijing in April 2010, iQIYI streams original movies, television series, variety shows, cartoons and other content.
