An expansion to the number of HD and children’s channels are part of changes to the Freeview TV guide from August 2.
Digital UK, which operates the platform, said the changes are designed to increase the capacity for the launch of new channels, while minimising the risks around minors viewing inappropriate content.
A number of channels, including popular broadcasters Sky News and the BBC News channel will move to new numbers.
Due to increased demand for channel slots from broadcasters, some Children’s channels are currently listed at the end of General Entertainment in a temporary overflow area.
According to the make and model of their TV or set-top, some viewers may need to update their receivers.
