The Dutch fixed broadband market grew by 0.7% in the last three months of 2016 and 2.6% in the 12 months overall.
Telecompaper’s latest Dutch Broadband report said the year ended with 7.33 million connections.
Much of the growth was led by fibre, which increased the number of connections by 2.6%, and with cable increasing by 1.4%, DSL continued its decline.
Ziggo, the country’s largest cable operator, produced its best broadband numbers since in 2013 merger with UPC. It ended the year with 3.18 million broadband customers and a market share of 43.4%.
Number two provider KPN added just 2,000 new connections, despite operating a number of brands including Telfort, XS4ALL and Edutel.
