The Ukrainian incumbent Ukrtelekom invested UAH1 billion (€34.8 million) on the development of technical infrastructure in 2016, with just over half (UAH509 million) being spent on the modernisation of its network.
The telco laid 2,800km of fibre-optic cable, over a third of which was in the country’s six largest cities, and it began this year with a total of 45,500km of fibre-optic lines.
In its latest financial report, Ukrtelekom says it plans to double its investment in modernisation in 2017 to between UAH2 billion and UAH2.5 billion, with the main part of the funding being aimed at improving the access network.
