US media company Viacom has commenced offering the German-language version of MTV as a free-of-charge live-stream on the internet.
The OTT service accessible at www.mtv.de/live is launched at the occasion of the 20th birthday of MTV Germany. The channel launched on March 7, 1997 as the first of now 18 regional MTV channels in Europe.
The first German-language shows were Select MTV, MTV Hot, MTV In Touch and MTV Hitlist Germany.
“March 7, 2017 is an important date for MTV. We celebrate not only channel’s 20th anniversary in Germany, but also bring the world’s biggest entertainment brand with the live-stream onto the target group’s screens,” said Mark Specht, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Viacom for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. “With the live-stream at mtv.de, we reach MTV viewers anytime and anywhere.”
