The Polish public broadcaster TVP is to digitise over 800 feature films, documentaries, theatrical plays, educational programmes and series at a cost of PLN80.78 million (€18.83 million).
The project, which will be completed in three years, will leave it with the largest digital library of content in the country.
According to Maciej Stanecki, a member of the board at TVP, the broadacster’s aim is not only broadcast the content on its TV channels but also over the internet.
The project, which is entitled Digitalisation of the Polish Television and Film School from the Archives of TVP S.A, is receiving around 75% of its funding from the EU.
