The boss of Vodafone says a deal with Liberty Global remains “attractive”.
Vittorio Colao said the merits of the failed 2015 asset swap remained. “It is still an attractive combination. The deal is not on the table. But as a project, it’s an interesting project,” he told the Financial Times, describing Vodafone and Liberty as the only two guys in town.
The original discussions are believed to have failed after a disagreement over the value of the two companies.
While talks of a wider merger between the two companies did not proceed the two returned to the table and last year agreed to combine their Dutch operations to form a 50:50 joint venture, called VodafoneZiggo.
