German cable operator Unitymedia has gained 62,000 new internet and 60,000 new telephony subscribers in Q4 2016.
Across the whole year 2016, 219,000 internet and 196,000 telephony customers were added, according to the Liberty Global subsidiary. In total, Unitymedia had 3.3 million internet and 3.1 million telephony customers at the end of 2016.
90% of the new internet customers opted for data rates of at least 120Mbps in Q4 2016. 10 million households in Unitymedia’s footprint can access the high-speed internet service offering a speed of 400Mbps.
Unitymedia’s customers used up an average data volume of 90GB per month in Q4 2016 – more than twice as much as the average German household.
The new cable router Connect introduced in November 2015 is now installed in around 500,000 households. The number of Horizon customers rose in Q4 2016 by 30,000 to 588,000, corresponding with 9% of Unitymedia’s total TV customer base.
