ChinaNetCenter is set to pay R430.5 million (€6.94 million) for a 70% stake in Russia’s CDNvideo.
According to Kommersant, a further R49 million will be added to the fee if the CDN company’s revenues double this year.
CDNvideo has a total of 400 servers in 17 Russian cities, as well as Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Moldova, Germany, Netherlands and US.
Its revenues in 2014 amounted to R156.7 million and net profit R18.2 million.
There has been little change in its financial performance since then, with its revenues in 2016 estimated to be around R170 million.
Russia’s CDN market is worth around R1 billion and growing by around 15-20% a year thanks in part to OTT services.
