Close to half of all digital TV services in Hungary are now received via cable or IPTV.
Data produced by the regulatory NMHH shows that the figure continues to rise and stood at 44.6% as of December 2016.
Based on data from leading market players, the total number of cable and IPTV homes in December 2016 amounted to 2,303,690, of which 1,461,083 were digital.
Meanwhile, the number of DTH and pay-DTT subscriptions were 870,688 and 101,297 respectively, with the total number of digital TV subscriptions being 2,433,068.
UPC was the leading provider of subscription TV services irrespective of technology with a market share of 26.9%, though it was closely followed by Telekom and Digi with 25.2% and 25.1% respectively.
Meanwhile, Hungary ended the year with 1,144,863 broadband cable subscriptions, of which the overwhelming majority (1,004,439) were via DOCSIS 3.0.
The number of xDSL and FTTx subscriptions stood at 770,502 and 517,990 respectively.
