If there’s one thing that links together the financial results of Sky and BT and that’s the pull on costs from the FA Premier League contract.
A week after the telco said it was dropping free access to its sports channels, BT announced it had added 52,000 new customers on the quarter, taking its installed base at December 31, 2016 to 1.7 million.
BT Sport’s average audience figures increased 15% excluding Showcase and digital channels.
Broadband and TV revenue together increased by 8%.
Consumer 12-month rolling ARPU increased 8% to £39.4 per month driven by broadband, BT Sport and BT Mobile.
