Pay-TV operators in Poland now favour FTA (ad funded) and premium far more than classical paid thematic channels.
In the second part of a study into the country’s pay-TV market, ScreenLovers notes that 41% of industry respondents said FTA were the most in demand, followed by premium (38%) and paid thematic channels (7%).
Looking more closely at genres, sports and documentary channels were identified as the most in demand by pay-TV operators. However, it was felt that the market was saturated for most other genres, including film, series, kids and music.
Interestingly, only around a fifth of respondents could envisage an operator introducing à la carte to its offer in 2017.
Respondents were also of the view that Grupa WP and Eleven were likely to see the most growth in distribution this year, while TVS and NBC would see a fall in their distribution.
