Vasil Maghlaperidze has been appointed the new DG of the Georgian public broadcaster.
In a statement, the EBU says that 15 individuals had expressed an interest in the position and a shortlist of five were interviewed by the board of trustees who appointed Maghlaperidze to the role.
It adds that Maghlaperidze has had a varied career in academia, politics, journalism and, latterly, TV.
He joined Channel 9 as deputy director in 2012, where he also presented a regular programme on the channel. In the last two years he has worked at GDS TV as the producer of 2030.
Maghlaperidze succeeds Giorgi Baratashvili, who resigned last year.
