Canal+ is to start coverage of French Ligue 1 football in Ultra HD.
The first match to be screened in the format will be the January 29 clash between Paris St Germain and Monaco. The plan is to broadcast every Sunday evening match in Ultra HD.
François-Charles Bideaux, production manager, sport, Canal+ Group said: “We have been working for several months to integrate the benefit of Ultra HD into our sports productions to immerse our subscribers in a total stadium experience, from their perspective, even better than being in the director’s box because of the enhancements to the production.”

Canal has been working with the League of Professional Football with a view to improve the quality and attractiveness of Ligue 1. Its been developing new camera angles both on and off the pitch.
