Altice has no plans at present to buy the Portuguese commercial broadcaster TV1.
Speaking in an interview with RTP3 and quoted by Jornal Económico, Paulo Neves, the CEO of PT Portugal, added that while Altice has a vision of being a “global operator”, reports that it is targeting TV1 are just rumours.
However, he refused to rule out the possibility of a deal in the future.
Neves also said that PT, which has been owned by Altice since 2015, is investing in fibre optics and has reversed a cycle in revenue decline.
He also insisted that Altice’s debt of €47 billion has a long maturity date and its companies generate sufficient cash flow to pay it off.
