Germany’s third-largest cable operator Tele Columbus remains interested in acquisitions, mainly of small, but no longer big companies, CEO Ronny Verhelst said at the presentation of the company’s new 4K home platform AdvanceTV in Berlin.
Tele Columbus Group which strongly grew in the past years through acquisitions comprises companies such as Primacom, Pepcom, KMS, Deutschetelekabel, HL komm, Martens and Big Medienversorgung.
The different brands will be unified into a single brand in the B2C market in 2017, announced Verhelst. He didn’t, however, specify whether this brand would be Tele Columbus, when asked by Broadband TV News.
Tele Columbus will introduce the new cable standard DOCSIS 3.1 enabling internet data rates of more than 1Gbps when there is demand for it, said Verhelst.
The current maximum speed offered by the company through DOCSIS 3.0 is 400Mbps. Technically possibly would be 800Mbps – which could follow as the next step, hinted Verhelst.
