Croatia’s parliament has appointed Blago Markota as the new acting general manager of the public broadcaster HRT.
Markota has been at HRT since 1999, most recently as head of archive and programme content, where he worked closely with the EBU to help manage the digitisation of the audiovisual archive for public service media in South-East Europe.
He started working at HRT as a financial analyst but has held numerous positions at the broadcaster including marketing director, board member for Croatian Television and advisor to the general manager.
Since 2014, Markota has been a member of the Executive Council of the International Federation of Television Archives and he is working with the Ministry of Culture in Croatia to establish new national archive regulations.
He also lectures in media at the University North in Croatia.
