The Czech Republic’s leading broadcaster TV Nova has won a major legal action in neighbouring Slovakia.
In a statement, it says that the District Court in Trencin has granted a full application by CET 21, Nova’s licence holder, to order a defendant to stop distributing the broadcaster’s channels.
It adds that this is the “first final court decision” and clesarly demonstrates the illegality of the defendant’s conduct.
The court simultaneously ordered the defendant to remove all infromation about the distribution and availability of all Nova channels. It also obliged the defendant to provide CET 21 with information about how the stations have been received and to pay all the legal costs.
Nova makes its channels Nova International, along with a combination of Nova Sport 1 and 2, available in Slovakia for a fee.
