Telia’s TV business was one of the better performers in what was an otherwise challenging third quarter for the Swedish company.
In its home market, it ended September with 752,000 TV subscribers, or 5.5% more than in the same period last year.
Its broadband subscriber total grew by a more modest 0.4% to 1,301,000 over the same period, while the number of fixed telephony customers slumped by 10.2% to 1,735,000.
However, organic sales declined by 1.6%, while the rollout of fibre was negatively impacted as the turnaround time for digging permits increased. In Q3, 37,000 new homes were connected, of which 15,000 were SDUs.
Elsewhere, the number of TV subscribers in Denmark rose by 7.7% to 28,000 in the year to September 30. However, in Finland it fell by 0.4% to 489,000.
In the Baltic Republics, the number of TV subscribers in Lithuania rose by 11.9% to 226,000 in the year to September 30. In Estonia, on the other hand, the figure was a more modest 2.9%, to 176,000.
Telia’s net sales in Q3 amounted to SEK21,524 million (€2,219.26 million), or 0.9% less than in the same period last year.
The company also posted a net loss of SEK8,641 million in Q3.
