UPC Switzerland is launching an eSports portal, eSports.ch.
On the new platform a team of experts will report on the world’s fastest growing sport with the focus on Switzerland.
Each month, more than 750,000 Swiss people follow gaming live streams on Twitch, the global streaming portal for video games and eSport. Besides news and insights, there will be reports, for example, on how Swiss eAthletes perform in international tournaments.
A content team made up of active eAthletes is behind the portal and will translate information from the scene for the general public. The Spotlight programme will play an important role. Four hosts will present the news in an entertaining way in German and French, providing viewers with news and give a face to eSports in Switzerland.
UPC’s CEO, Eric Tveter, said: “Today we operate the most powerful and future-proof network in Switzerland based on optical fibre cable, which we have built up without public money and in a non-discriminatory manner for urban and rural areas alike. We already have the most customers with a superfast Internet connection in Switzerland. This investment in the network makes an important contribution to the development of an open digital society in Switzerland, from which gamers can also benefit.”
