The free-to-air TV channels of German commercial broadcast group ProSiebenSat.1 will be part of the IPTV platform German fibre-optic network provider Exaring plans to launch in Q4 2016.
The carriage contract comprises Sat.1, ProSieben, kabel eins, sixx, ProSieben Maxx, Sat.1 Gold and kabel eins Doku, ProSiebenSat.1 announced in Munich.
The agreement also covers content from the channels’ catch-up portals, the instant replay function through which a running TV programme can be watched from the beginning and the possibility to record several TV shows in parallel through a network PVR.
Part of the contract is also an addressable TV solution through which TV commercials can be played out to individual target groups in future.
The IPTV platform will comprise linear TV channels, video-on-demand content, online games and streaming services. German media company Freenet holds a 25% stake in Exaring.
