Israeli satellite operator Yes has become the latest customer for Cisco’s Infinite Video Cloud, joining some 75 customers subscribing to the managed service.
The Video Cloud offers subscribers the ability to record an infinite amount of content and play it back on any device, you can capture a greater share of consumer video consumption.
“Infinite Video is the delivery and distribution of video content in a managed platform as a service,” explains Yves Padrine, VP GSP EMEAR Sales, Cisco. One of many advantages is the reduction of set-top box costs as the content is stored in the cloud.
The Yes package also includes online security.
“Two to three years ago I was talking about the cloud and first and foremost it was our own people that I had in the messaging,” said Conrad Clemson, Senior Vice President/General Manager of Service Provider Video Software and Solutions (SPVSS), Cisco told Broadband TV News. “When we brought it to the marketplace they said ‘I’ll take it’ and now they’re coming back.
The control centre for the managed operation follows the sun with three teams working out of Bangalore India, Israel and the United States. Any bugs are immediately expedited with testing often across the weekend before a new release is sent to subscribers on a Monday morning.
