IBC attendees will be able to witness first-hand the groundbreaking project LiveIP from VRT and EBU with help from their 14 partners, in the new IBC IP Interoperability Zone.
Belgium public broadcaster VRT together with the EBU and 12 other technology partners started building a production studio at VRT, entirely based on IP. Broadcasters from as far away as China and India have flocked to Brussels to see it in action.
Visitors will be able to see a fully functioning multi-vendor IP studio that provides a glimpse of the future of live content production. The working IP based, multi-vendor production set-up, includes a studio and control room, which will be producing actual content for IBC TV.
IBC attendees will also be able to see and even use the IP based studio and control room, as well as observe and meet the production staff and technical experts who have real-life, practical experience of the set-up.
The VRT-EBU LiveIP studio and control room can be seen in the IBC IP Interoperability Zone in Hall 8, D10. The studio will also be connected to the IBC TV control room in hall 13, thereby showing the ability to do remote production. Finally, both locations are linked via the data centre, sited at a 3rd location (Hall 8, B90), demonstrating the distributed nature of the set.
The VRT-EBU Live IP Studio is also in the running for the IBC Innovation Award in Content Creation.
