The BBC iPlayer Radio has now gone live worldwide and is available for download, James Montgomery, Director of digital development at BBC News, revealed to Broadband TV News.
The app may, though, take a few hours to show up in all the app stores, Montgomery added. The global launch was first announced a month ago by the BBC.
BBC World Service in English will automatically display on a touchscreen dial when users outside the UK open the app for the first time.
It’s then possible to spin the dial to access additional BBC stations. The app is available for Andorid as well as iOS, and offers the full range of all national and regional BBC radio stations.
The app can also be used to download podcasts for later listening.
