Internet access speeds of at least 30 Mbps were available in more than 39% of homes in Polish towns with populations of over 5,000 inhabitants as of the end of 2015.
This, according to a report by the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) on the county’s telecom infrastructure, was nine percentage points higher than a year earlier.
At the same time, the report points out that 8% of locations, 99% of which were villages with no more than 100 inhabitants, still had no internet connection.
However, with the implantation of various projects this figure is expected to fall to 1%.
The report also found that there was a 30% increase in fibre-optic networks in 2015, with the their length amounting to almost 420,000km at year’s end.
