MGTS is setting the pace in the take-up of IPTV services in the Russian capital.
Vedomosti reports that the company, which is part of MTS, saw its IPTV subscriber total grow by 8.5% in the second quarter.
The half-year growth amounted to 17%, with the number of IPTV subscribers as of the end of June standing at 410,000.
IPTV is now the most profitable pay-TV segment in Moscow, with ARPU standing at R229 (€3.27), compared to an average of R186 for the city’s pay-TV market.
Although Rostelecom launched IPTV services in Moscow six years ago, MGTS has been the fastest growing provider of pay-TV as a whole in the last two years.
However, it still accounted for only 7% of the pay-TV market in Q2, compared to Rostelecom’s 50%.
