The prime minister has named Karen Bradley as the new minister for culture.
Ms Bradley was previously security minister within the Home Office.
She replaces John Whittingdale, who was sacked on Thursday morning. A Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser, Ms Bradley worked in public practice from 1991 to 2004, first for Deloitte & Touche and then for KPMG. In 2004, she became a self-employed fiscal and economic consultant. Karen rejoined KPMG in 2007, where she remained until shortly before her election to the House of Commons.
Mr Whittingdale had been overseeing changes to the governance of the BBC and a controversial privatisation plan for Channel 4.
