German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland will launch new channel Sky Cinema Family HD in Germany and Austria on September 22, 2016, heralding a brand redesign of Sky’s movie channels on a pan-European basis.
The 24 hour service will offer movies for the whole family – from classics to recently released blockbusters. Highlights will include the German TV debut of Hotel Transylvania 2 as well as films like Minions, Cinderella, Ice Age 1-3 and Spider-Man 2.
Sky Cinema Family HD will be available in the Sky Cinema package both in SD and HD quality to DTH satellite customers on Astra (19.2 degrees East). The channel will also be offered on selected cable networks in SD resolution.
The movies will also be accessible on demand and on mobile devices through Sky On Demand, Sky Go and Sky Online. Sky Cinema Family HD will be a new TV channel not replacing another service, a Sky spokesman confirmed to Broadband TV News.
Alongside the channel’s launch, the Sky movie channels will get a new brand design on a pan-European level. As part of the process, Sky Hits HD will change its name to Sky Cinema Hits HD, Sky Comedy to Sky Cinema Comedy, Sky Action HD to Sky Cinema Action HD, Sky Emotion to Sky Cinema Emotion and Sky Nostalgie to Sky Cinema Nostalgie.
