An effective ban on foreign companies controlling the measurement of TV audience data in Russia could be approved as soon as this Friday, June 17.
According to Vedomosti, the plan had its first reading in the State Duma on Wednesday, June 15 and the timing of the final review of the project will become clearer after a meeting with representatives of the media industry on the following day.
As previously reported in Broadband TV News, the move was first proposed by Andrei Lugovoi, the deputy of the Liberal Democratic Party, in the State Duma on June 6.
It would impact on the activities of TNS, which has been supplying audience data in Russia for nearly 20 years.
