RTL and Dirk Gerkens, the former head of its Hungarian operation RTL Klub, could sue each other for up to €1 million.
Quoting Népszabadság, BBJ reports that Gerkens, who is now head of the rival national commercial broadcaster TV2, is likely to seek damages for the way in which he was removed last March from the post at RTL Klub.
It adds that he is seeking the salary owed to him and any remaining allowances, a total amounting to around HUF310 million (€1million).
Meanwhile, RTL has filed a lawsuit against Gerkens for breach of contract. It also claims that he submitted several claims that were not permissible under the terms of his contact.
Gerkens was at the heart of a dispute between RTL Klub and the Hungarian government following the imposition of a controversial advertising tax introduced in summer 2014.
