French public broadcaster France Télévisions is set to launch a S-VOD service in March 2017.
The new site will be funded by subscriptions and will include not only programming fro the broadcaster itself, but also third-party material.
“We will start March 31, 2017 a subscription video-on-demand service, with series, documentaries, youth programs and movies,” said Ms. Recayte, who is in charge of the commercial subsidiaries of France Télévisions, including advertising, distribution and production (France Télévisions Publicité, France Télévisions Distribution and Multimédia France Production).
The move by the public broadcaster comes after a number of French broadcasters are launching their own SVOD services to compete with Netflix.
