A report on the financially troubled Bosnian public broadcaster BHRT will be presented to the country’s Parliamentary Assembly on May 11.
According to Capital, the report notes that the total licence fees collected by the broadcaster in 2015 amounted to BAM14,250,392 (€7,284,870), or 14% less than a year earlier.
Meanwhile, the broadcasting fees owed by RTV BiH and RTRS, the two broadcasters for which BHRT acts as an umbrella, amounted to BAM2,534,556 and BAM8,554,669 respectively. However, it also points out that RTRS has not submitted figures for Q1 this year, so the actual debt, on submission of the report on May 11, is likely to be much higher.
The relationship between BiH and RTRS is not functioning and has led BHRT to the point of almost total collapse.
As previously reported in Broadband TV News, BHRT’s financial problems led the EBU earlier this year to call for joint action to save the broadcaster.
