The Bulgarian Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) has fined Bulsatcom, the country’s leading provider of pay-TV services, for failing to provide its customers with complete and accurate information about a new programme package.
In a statement, the CPC says that it has imposed the fine of BGN590,792 (€300,599), equivalent to 0.4% of Bulsatcom’s total turnover in the previous financial year, for the introduction of a the Diema Extra pack, a new package containing the channels Diema Sport and Trace Sport Stars, in March 2015.
The package cost BGN3.96 a month and Bulsatcom’s subscribers were not provided with complete and accurate information about it, thereby preventing them from making a rational choice.
Furthermore, following the introduction of the new package, Trace Sports Stars was immediately withdrawn from the channel line-up and Diema Sport not offered in HD.
Despite this, Bulsatcom refused to reduce the monthly fee charged for the package.
