Sky will launch its Sky Q home gateway during 2017, chief executive Andrea Zappia has confirmed.
In an interview with Repubblica, Zappia said it was the latest example of co-operation between Sky Italia’s sister operations in Germany and the UK. This is leading to the uplink of 163 channels into Germany by the end of the year and the Sky Arts production hub in Milan.
“Looking ahead in 2017 Sky Q will arrive in Italy, a decoder that is a Home Gateway and allows you to receive more signals simultaneously and transmit them on other storage, transfer recordings to your tablet, or start a movie in the lounge and finish it in the bedroom.”
Launched in the UK market in February, the complete family of products, Sky Q, Sky Q Silver, Sky Q Mini, the Sky Q touch remote, the Sky Q Hub and the Sky Q app, all connect together – Sky is using the term Fluid Viewing. The 12 tuner Sky Q Silver box gives customers the ability to record four shows while watching a fifth live.
