Without giving specific sales numbers, Apple CEO Tim Cook said on the 2016 Q1 2016 earnings call that it was the “best quarter by far for Apple TV sales.”
The company also announced there’s a billion Macs, iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, and Apple TVs actively being used at this moment.
He also said there are now 3,600 apps available for the TV now. Among them is the Apple Podcast app, that was missing from the Apple TV4, but isnow part of the release of tvOS 9.1.1.
“Our team delivered Apple’s biggest quarter ever, thanks to the world’s most innovative products and all-time record sales of iPhone, Apple Watch and Apple TV,” CEO Tim Cook said in a statement.
“The growth of our services business accelerated during the quarter to produce record results, and our installed base recently crossed a major milestone of one billion active devices.”
Apple does not report individual sales figures for its various products, just bundling all “other” products apart from iPhone sales. Among these are Apple TV STBs, Beats headphones, iPods, and Apple watches. During the quarter, the company sold 74.8 million iPhones, 16.1 million iPads, and 5.3 million Macs.
