RTL-owned Dutch VOD service Videoland said it has grown its subscriber base with 200% during 2015, without giving an actual number of paying subscribers.
The platform claims it success is due to the high quality of its content, its original production Zwarte Tulp (Black Tulip), an improved product and design as well as successful marketing campaigns with retailer Kruidvat, M&M’s, EMESA and Google Chromecast. Videoland said it is the second most popular VOD service in the country. Netflix is by far the most popualr service.
The division of all watched programmes on Videoland is 70% TV series and 30% films. Viewing was mainly done on mobile devices 47% (smartphone/tablet), 29% via smart TV and 27% via web. Large screen viewing using Google Chromecast or Apple TV is not included in the figure for smart TVs.
The best viewed programmes on the portal are mostly Dutch TV series with the Top 3 looking like this 1) Zwarte Tulp; 2) Divorce; 3) Smoorverliefd.

Videoland is available on the web, on various smart TVs including Samsung, Philips and Sony, also on Sony Playstation and Google Chromecast with apps for iOS and Android, as well as a newly introduced app for the new Apple TV.
