Media Alliance, a joint venture between the National Media Group (NMG) and Discovery, is set to buy Turner’s assets in Russia.
Quoting a number of sources including Olga Paskina, the general director of Media Alliance, Vedomosti reports that the deal should be closed in the next few weeks.
It adds that Media Alliance was established this autumn, with NMG holding an 80% stake in the venture and Discovery 20%. It already operates 11 Discovery channels in Russia and will now also control the Turner channels Cartoon Network, Boomerang and CNN.
Paskina did not specify if the Turner channels would be allowed to carry advertising.
