The Dutch language satellite broadcaster BVN has launched an online live streaming service called BVN Live.
The web channel, which brings programming from Dutch public broadcaster NPO and its Flemish colleague VRT to Dutch and Belgian expats and holiday makers, is using Flash and is only available outside the Netherlands and Belgium.
“In many places, think of big cities with tall buildings or zones with strict government regulations, it is not possible to receive BVN via satellite,” said BVN. Network manager René van Baaren:
“But in many cases there is indeed good internet available. Also many Dutch holiday makers have asked us to make BVN available online.
“We can not only reach a new group of Dutch expats and emigrants, but existing viewers also find it a good idea to follow BVN programmes via mobile devices such as laptop, smartphone or tablet.”
