WATCH VIDEO. T-Mobile Netherlands is entering the TV market with Knippr, an OTT service, where consumers can mix and match their own bouquet of TV channels.
According to the operator, consumers are tired of having to pay for big bundles of TV channels. Its new Knippr service will offer a basic tier of channels, including the main channels from NPO, RTL Nederland and SBS Broadcasting, and customers can add more channels a la carte.
T-Mobile said talks are going on with almost all the major broadcasters and online video services to offer customers the widest possible choice for their package. The exact content and pricing will be announced in the spring when the service is expected to launch.
In early 2016 a beta version of Knippr will be tested, and consumers can register their interest to participate in the trial on a special Knippr website.
No other T-Mobile subscription is required, making it a true OTT service. When the service will officially launch, it will be compatible with Chromecast and Apple TV 4, also an app for tablet and smartphone will become available
T-Mobile is the second operator to launch a OTT video service, KPN launched its Play service in November.
