Swiss media company AZ Medien plans to launch a second nationwide TV channel next year.
TV25 will mainly screen upmarket entertainment programmes such as European movies, high-quality documentaries, arthouse movies and Swiss original productions, according to the company.
“With our new national TV channel, we will mainly target viewers interested in high-quality television with Swiss roots,” said Roger Elsener, managing director of AZ Medien’s TV department.
TV25 will be available in digital throughout Switzerland, broadcasting in HD resolution. The launch is planned for Q2 2016.
The new channel will complement AZ Medien’s TV portfolio which includes local channels TeleZüri, Tele M1 and TeleBärn as well as TV24, a nationwide TV channel launched in May 2014.
