Antenna Hungária has announced plans to expand its hybrid TV service MinDig TV Plusz in the near future.
The expansion will largely be determined by key sporting events next year such as the Rio Olympic Games and Euro 2016 in France, which will be broadcast live. The Hungarian company says it will like to offer more opportunities for viewers and content providers, as well as advertisers.
Quoting market research data, Antenna Hungária adds that there are now nearly half a million Hbb-enabled smart TV households in Hungary and over 200,000 HbbTV devices in use. While 10% of smart TV owners used HbbTV in 2014, the figure this year stands at 40%. The cost of HbbTV-enabled devices is also lower than in previous years.
MinDig TV Plusz was launched in 2013 and has an average daily red button usage of 3,000, while the public broadcaster MTVA’s HbbTV service, launched the following year, has 60-70,000.
