The chair of Israel’s Council for Cable TV and Satellite Broadcasting is to ask the chair of the Antitrust Authority to examine the timing of recent price rises.
Globes reported Sunday that Dr Yifat Ben Hai Segev had accused cable operator Hot and its satellite counterpart Yes of co-ordinating recent price increases. Dr Segev also ordered that the price increases should be suspended.
Yes was first out of the blocks with an announcement that its on demand prices would increase by NIS 5. A short time later Hot said its prices would go up by an average of 5%.
Both companies require the regulator’s approval to increase their prices.
Last week Dr Segev attacked both companies for what she described as greed for its own sake.
