Canadian media company Stingay wants to extend its activities in the German TV market.
Ultra HD music channel Stingray Ambiance is now available for carriage by cable companies and IPTV platform operators, Tom Adams, general manager of Stingray Deutschland, told Broadband TV News.
“100% of the programmes have been produced in native Ultra HD/4K,” stressed Adams. Initially, 100 hours of material are available with 10% new content added each month.
Stingray Ambiance is not transmitted to distribution partners via satellite or fibre-optic networks, but through a box hooked up to the head-end as a server playing out the programmes. Stingray updates the content and schedule remotely via internet.
Stingray Ambiance which shows landscape impressions with background music launched in September 2015 in North America. There is great interest in the channel among German platform operators, said Adams.
Stingray also wants to establish its music channels Brava HD and Djazz.tv in Germany which are already available in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Caribbean. Brava HD targets classical music fans while Djazz.tv focuses on jazz, soul and funk. Both channels are now ready for carriage by German platform operators, if desired in a German-language version, said Adams.
Stingray is currently present in Germany with music channel Stingray Lite TV, Stingray Karaoke, Stingray Concerts and Stingray Music (formerly Music Choice). The distribution partners include Vodafone Kabel Deutschland, Unitymedia and M7 Deutschland.
