Roku is backing its new 4K compatible device with a new curated 4K Spotlight Channel. It’s added a 4K UHD category to the Roku Channel Store to make it easier to locate suitable content.
The new device, being rolled out in the UK, United States and Canada this month, boasts a Quad-Core processor, up to 60 fps 4K streaming, HDCP 2.2 and Optical Audio Out.
An enhanced remote control adds voice search a headphone jack for private listening, and a new Remote Finder to help discover exactly which cushion it has disappeared beneath.
Search has also been extended to look across the Top 20 streaming channels; it then streams the results by price.
A software update beginning mid-October is expected to be completed by November.
It’s being priced at a recommended $129.99 (€115/£85).
There are also improvements to the iOS app. The Movies Coming Soon feature, which for the last few months has allowed Apple users to follow box office hits and be notified when available, has now been extended to series.
