Fed up with that brushed silver look of your current remote control? Ruwido says consumer research suggests a preference for a copper based design.
It’s one of a number of innovations put forward by the Austrian remote control developer. “Copper is the new aluminium,” declares Ruwido CEO Ferdinand Mayer, explaining that it’s not necessary to use the purest copper available to produce a sleek-looking remote in black and tan.
Ruwido has also been looking at battery life. The copper model holds a single battery, whereas two would previously have been required, and has a lifetime of 70% when compared to the two battery model.
Also in the Ruwido labs is voice detection. It’s already possible to control the remote through a voice command and identify users. the next stage would be to assess the mood of the user, based on the voice, and present appropriate options to them on the screen.
Mayer argues that it is this sort of functionality that keeps the remote ahead of using an app on a tablet or smart phone – though the Leaf X remote makes it possible to take a show from the screen to a tablet – contact is made through a carbon configuration on the back of the remote and the content sent over Wi-Fi.
Another device to keep the iPad away is the pressure points, Ruwido would say heptic, on the remote that allows the consumer to work their way through an EPQG without the on screen graphics running away from them.
