Cisco has released details of its new Infinite suite of cloud-powered video solutions.
Two key elements of the suite are Infinite Home, which allows any screen over two-way cable and telecoms networks and Infinite Video, which allows a variety of consumer electronics devices to run via over-the-top internet connections.
Cisco is claiming a window of just 90 days to launch through its ‘as a service’ deployment model and scalable cloud infrastructure.
Already picking up on the system is the Vodafone-owned Kabel Deutschland: “As we announced in January, we’re developing a next-generation video service based on a new cloud-powered TV platform,” said Florian Landgraf, senior vice president, Product Development, Kabel Deutschland. “The platform moves control and functionality into the cloud, making it quick and easy for Kabel Deutschland to rapidly update features and offer new services. Kabel Deutschland is working with Cisco on this new platform, which uses Cisco’s Infinite Home solution”.
It’s anticipated operators including KDG will enjoy regular system updates.
