German commercial TV broadcaster ProSieben Maxx will transmit live matches of the National Football League (NFL) from autumn 2015.
The free-to-air channel secured the rights for 43 games of the US league’s regular season. From the start of the next season, ProSieben Maxx will transmit two matches live per week. Kick-off will be on September 13, 2015 at 19.00 CET.
Additionally, ProSieben Maxx and sister channel Sat.1 will show the NFL playoffs which will be shared by both channels.
The Pro Bowl, the NFL all-star-game traditionally taking place one week ahead of the Super Bowl, will be screened live by ProSieben Maxx for the first time. Sat.1 will show the Super Bowl live. In total, both channels will transmit 50 NFL matches live in the year of the 50th anniversary of the Super Bowl.
In Germany, most NFL coverage has so far been on Sport1 US, the pay-TV channel for fans of US sports.
